Diskover Catalonia, the company that created the Diskover application, framed within the travel tech sector, allies itself with 24 companies, universities, technology centers and other entities, so that Catalonia is a benchmark in tourism technology.
Barcelona, March 28, 2022.- Today we were present at the foundation ceremony of the ICT-Tourism Cluster held in La Pedrera, which was attended by the Business Councilor Roger Torrent, the director of the Business Strategic Action Unit Joan Martí, the president of the Cluster Félix Navarro, and the Secretary of Business and Competitiveness of the Generalitat de Catalunya Albert Castellanos.
This new cluster will make it possible to face the common challenges that affect us, such as digitalization and sustainability, from the perspective of each of the different players in the tourism ecosystem. It will facilitate the inclusion of new technologies to make this a more competitive market and adapted to the new realities. And it will help to reactivate pre-pandemic activity by analyzing the environment and strengthening the sector’s own capacities.
The platform is made up of 24 companies, universities, technology centers and entities, which employ 1,700 workers and invoice, in total, 253 million euros on average directly linked to the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) to their businesses. No other cluster created in the last thirty years in Catalonia has started with such strength in terms of initial volume of founding partners.
From Diskover we gladly join the project given that technology and sustainability are the key pillars of our app. We also value the formalization of international connections very positively.
We hope that more companies and entities will join the project and contribute together in this transformation of the tourism model.
